Learn more about submitting a proposal
Session Information & Program
This year’s theme, "Pay it Forward: Research That Serves the Community," celebrates research that makes a positive impact and fosters meaningful change in our communities. For this year’s conference, we are accepting submissions from students in the following categories:
Workshops
60-75 minute
Interactive sessions focused on the application of community-engaged research techniques. We highly encourage cross-disciplinary duos or teams to submit collaborative proposals together to capture both academic/scholarly and community-based/practitioner perspectives.
Paper Session
12 minutes per paper | 60 minutes total per session)
Papers will be presented orally to an audience and include a description of completed research or research in progress. The presentation should highlight key information related to the rationale, purpose, methodology, analysis, results and discussion/implications.
All oral presentations will be 12 minutes in length, with 5 minutes for questions from the audience. The moderator will oversee timing the presentation and holding up “5 minute,” “3 minute,” and “1 minute” signs to indicate the remaining time in the presentation. Please plan accordingly.
Poster Session
60 minutes
Poster presentations allow presenters and attendees to engage in discussions about the author’s research findings, new ideas, innovations and possible advances in the profession. Poster materials should briefly highlight the key components related to the particular type of work. While it is not required that a presenter attend the poster during the entire length of the poster session, only those present during the judging will receive feedback on their posters.
The standard poster size is 4 ft W x 3 ft H. Your poster should be able to be mounted with painter’s tape onto the wall or on an easel; painter’s tape and easels will be provided. You should arrive about five minutes ahead of the session time, and you should remove your poster when the period is over.
